HBO GO Design System

HBO GO is a robust app that spans across many different devices including a vast number of TV screens and providers.

Our designers were recreating screens and flows each time a new feature was created. This created hours of extra work and inconsistencies in designs.

We created a reusable toolkit that allows the designers to focus on the feature work and not spend time reinventing the wheel each project cycle.

This toolkit also needed to be accessed by the engineers and align with their back-end language. We partnered with the engineering team to create a naming system that fit with their code language.
We broke down each screen to its core components to identify the reusable pieces and understand how they fit together as a system.
From there we leveraged the atomic design methology as our model.
We created a modular system of five UI toolkit categories that work together to form an interface design system.
